Australia's Orange-bellied Parrot, along with the Giant Panda, Whooping Crane and Siberian Tiger are amongst the rarest and most endangered of  Wildlife. Only 100 to 200 individuals still exist.
They spend their summers in Tasmania and their winters along the coasts of Victoria and South Australia.
At the end of summer they leave South West Tasmania heading North towards mainland Australia with a stop-over for food supplies on King Island before arriving at their destinations, this is a drawn out period of about 2 months.
King Island is an Orange-bellied Parrot bird watcher destination.
